 CD INSTRUCTIONS:

You will need Acrobat Reader 7.0 installed on your computer to access the pdf files on a Directory CD. If you do not already have it, Acrobat Reader can be downloaded free of charge from the Adobe website.

Follow the installation instructions provided.  Now you are ready to use the Directory CD.

1.  Place the CD in your CD-ROM Drive.  A folder should automatically open on your desktop, or chose "Run" from your Start Menu to locate the folder on the CD.

2.  Click (or double-click) the pdf file you would like to open first, and it should automatically open in Acrobat Reader.  If it doesn't automatically open by clicking the file, then you must first open Adobe® Reader® and locate the directory folder and pdf files and open from within the program.

3.  Printing selected pages for your own use is allowed.  Making duplicate CD's or posting the pdf's on a website is in violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright  Act of 1998.

All pages have been OCR'd and are fully text searchable, using the Adobe® Reader® search feature. You may search for any first name, occupation, phone number, street name, etc. You may also do look-ups either numerically, alphabetically, by street address, etc., as you would with an actual city directory book.

The City Directories include:

  • Introduction, local information, abbreviations used
  • White Pages - Individuals and Businesses listed alphabetically
  • Green Pages - Street and Avenue Guide listed with Cross Streets
  • Blue Pages - Telephone Numbers listed numerically
  • Classified Directory and Buyer's Guide

The Telephone Books include:

  • White Pages - Individuals and Businesses listed alphabetically
  • It will be noted if the Yellow Pages are included in a specific book.

 Hints:

  • Use the Zoom tool to either fit the page on your screen, or zoom in to read smaller type.
  • Use the "Search" option under "Edit" or click the binocular icon in the Adobe header
  • Do not select "Whole word only" as a search option
  • The "Find" option does not work as well as the "Search" option
  • Check Abbreviations page for first names - "William" may also be listed as "Wm"
  • Check Abbreviations page for occupations - "Painter" may also be listed as "Pntr"
